The II International
\nStreet Sculpture Exhibition was held in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 1994.<\/h1>\n

In this second edition, according to the architect and organiser of the exhibition, Vicente Saavedra: “The happy coincidence of the celebration in 1994 of the V Centenary of the foundation of the City of Santa Cruz de Tenerife with the XX anniversary of the I Street Sculpture Exhibition has made it possible to set up a second version of that exhibition”.<\/h2>\n

The idea was passed on to the team responsible for the first version, and from the very first moments, the enthusiasm of all its members, now accompanied by another generation of colleagues and a large group of professors from the Faculty of Fine Arts, who share the same concerns as us, was renewed.<\/p>\n

The absence of Maud and Eduardo Westerdahl from this group is made up for by the spirit of dedication and participation that we learned from them in so many years of friendship and coexistence.<\/p>\n

As in the past, the financing depends on the economic contributions of organisations and companies who believe that this initiative will enrich the already important sculptural heritage of Santa Cruz and will definitively make it one of the Spanish cities with the greatest presence of contemporary art in its streets.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]The list of sponsors begins with the Government of the Canary Islands, the Island Council and the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council and continues with a list of companies that will surely be joined by others, which already guarantee the success of the project.<\/p>\n

We know that time has passed and that the theoretical approaches to the implantation of sculptures in the city have changed considerably since our first exhibition.<\/p>\n

We have already held the II International Symposium on Street Art and this time we will have conclusions, which will be collected in a publication sponsored by the Men\u00e9ndez Pelayo International University, which will serve as a guide in the development of this new activity.<\/p>\n

The choice of sculptors for this second International Exhibition has been made by the organising committee, choosing, as then, among artists of the highest renown.[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner row_type=”row” type=”full_width” text_align=”left” css_animation=””][vc_column_inner offset=”vc_hidden-lg vc_hidden-md”][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_separator type=”normal” thickness=”5″ color=”#07184b”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

The response has been very generous and soon we will be able to enjoy sculptures by Ulrich Ruckriem, Susana Solano, Igor Mitoraj, Juan Bordes, Christian Silvain, Jaume Plensa, Hannecke Beaumont, Mario Merz, Jos\u00e9 Guinovart, Kan Yasuda, Jos\u00e9 de Guimaraes and Miquel Navarro in Santa Cruz.<\/h4>\n
