Agustín Cárdenas Alfonso

(Cárdenas, Cuba, 1927 – La Habana, Cuba, 2001)

His generation and vocation place him in imaginative abstraction. His stay in Paris around 1955 undoubtedly led him to consider the role of interior space and “concretions” in sculpture in Stahly’s sense, although always within original treatments. He is one of the founders of the Group of Eleven.
