Disciple of Moore. He works on a limited number of subjects taken from the animal kingdom (crab, cockerel, birds), in which he captures above all the combative spirit and movement. He studied at the Norwich School of Art, the Chelsea School of Art, and the Royal College of Art. He was successively a lecturer at the Chelsea School of Art, the Bath Academy of Art, and the Royal College of Art. He took part in major international art exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale in 1952 and 1964, the Sao Paulo Biennale in 1957, the Pittsburgh International in 1959 and 1964 and Documenta II in Kassel in 1959.
