Francisco Sobrino Ochoa

(Guadalajara, Spain, 1932 – Brittany, France, 2014)

He studied at the School of Fine Arts and Crafts of Madrid and Buenos Aires. He co-founded the “Groupe de recherche d’Art visuel” in Paris (dissolved in 1968). He exhibited his work all over the world.

«Sobrino has focussed on researches rigorously limited to the visual presence of the work. This means a radical exclusion of everything that is not purely visual, eliminating any appeal, be it anecdotal, imaginative, or emotional. As in certain moments of Sempere and Calvo, the kinetic-optic experiences of Vasarely are evident». (V. Aguilera Cerni)
