“The Middelheim Museum from Antwerp has loaned “El Milagro” (“The Miracle”), a bronze sculpture by Marino Marini, on the theme of horse and rider, a work of emotional resonance and very representative of his figurative-expressionist line.”

“And Middelheim added another notable loan, “El Milagro” (“The Miracle”) by Marino Marini, a 1952 bronze sculpture by the acclaimed Italian sculptor that narrates in light-hearted and expressive diction the incredible balance of a rider on a horse supported on its haunches and hind legs.”

“Three artists were born in the first decade of the century (Marino Marini, b. 1901; Eduardo Gregorio, b.1903 and Óscar Domínguez, b.1906), all of them with late works. The Italian, El Milagro (The Miracle) (1952) represents one of his many versions of the horse and knight which, based on classical training, explored a primitivism that was both volumetric and expressive”

“El Milagro” (“The Miracle”) (1952, bronze) by Marino Marini, who with his equestrian groups became in Italy, together with his quasi-contemporary Manzu, the main representative of a new figurative, archaising and humanistic sculpture. “
