“The work of José Mª Subirachs, also in concrete, more of a temple for an open hand than a vault. This kind of podium is made with a great richness of texture. Welcomed in this temple, the bas-relief of the hand presents, for the effects of light, its trompe-l’œil, like a magical apparition. It is flawlessly finished work and very much in line with the dual conception which distinguishes the sculptor’s latest work. It is entitled “Introversion” (1973).”

“Although few in number, there was no shortage of attempts to recover the commemorative function, although they were always undertaken from a formal revision of the monument. In comparison with the traditional commemorations, these attempts show a marked reduction in scale, a notable loss of monumentality. Such is the case of Mark Macken’s Solidarity or José María Subirachs’s Introversion.”
