“In front of her a rigorist, the most schematic and intellectual of the exhibitors: Joaquín Rubio Camín, in “Nivel” (Level), a sculpture in L-shaped laminated steel and metallised in copper. Iron is presented here in a reptilian trajectory, showing the vitality of its geometry, in the cut, in the straightness of the outline, in the incorporation and detachment of its base, in the rhythm. Mental, naked, a true lesson in purity.”

“A sample from Asturias exemplifies the geometric diction in which another consecrated abstractionist, Joaquín Rubio Camín (Gijón, 1929), expresses himself: his horizontal Nivel (Level), in L-shaped laminated steel with copper profiles, is an example of his preference for the dihedral as the structuring element of form”

“More geometrically essentialist options were offered (…) and Joaquín Rubio Camín (b. 1929) with his Nivel (Level), calligraphic in its geometric essentiality.”
